COSAs 11.5 Lesson 6 Pt 2

Social media can have a negative effect in that it can make the poster of a negative comment could give the wrong impression to those who are on your social network.  I have one “friend” that always posts with curse words and has just a negative attitude that makes me cringe with a lot of her posts; I don’t have the courage to unfriend her for that I might offend her -- and I have never “seen” her outside Facebook.  Isn't that absurd?  But I don’t because she may be a nicer person in real life with a fragile mindset. (And isn't it funny these stories we can come up with for the people of Facebook?)

Social media can also negatively affect job searches.  If one trash talks their current or former employer, they could get a reputation as a complainer and that could prevent them from being promoted or moving onto another place of employment.

For me, being negative on social media is just not worth it.  Sure, I may rarely post I've had a bad day but I never belittle anyone or anything.  I just think bringing negativity to social media makes the poster look ill-informed.
