I looked at the following public LibGuides: Encino Branch
Library, Teen Volunteer Opportunities, and Seniors: Live Well, Age Smart. I looked at the Encino Library guide because
we’ve had a lot questions regarding the new branch. I think patrons will be excited to learn
about the maker space they will have! I
would direct patrons that want a more detailed idea about what this branch will
offer to this page. After looking the
Teen Volunteer Opportunities page, I would direct teens (and maybe their
parents) to this page for them to get an indication of what they can do a s a
teen volunteer for SAPL if the Volunteer Liaison wasn't available. On the
Seniors: Live Well, Age Smart page I noticed a sidebar with a slide show of new
Large Print books; I think this will be a helpful tool for Seniors want to know
what the newest titles are but don’t have the means to get Wowbrary.
The staff LibGuides I looked at was Self Directed Learning
and Using Overdrive Periodicals. On the
Self Directed Learning LibGuide, I was really excited to see a “Did you know???”
side bar that gave help/ update info for staff on use of certain databases and
helpful titles to read for staff. I also
looked at the Using Overdrive Periodicals LibGuide. Since I haven’t yet had the opportunity to
work with it, I took a look at the Guide to see what all was involved. I had no idea you had to use a Nook app! The tutorial with visual aids looks like a
useful tool that can be printed off and given to patrons who may be struggling
with getting their priodicals.
